Premera Supports Campaign to Educate on Preeclampsia
Premera Blue Cross is partnering with March of Dimes, a national organization focused on improving maternal and infant health outcomes, on a new campaign to help members understand and prevent preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a serious condition during pregnancy that can cause high blood pressure and lead to problems for a woman and her baby.
The campaign will launch during Black Maternal Health Week, which starts on April 11. Preeclampsia can happen to anyone who is pregnant, but Black women experience preeclampsia at significantly higher rates compared to white women. Premera recognizes the importance of closing this gap by working alongside local organizations to help people feel informed, advocate for their health, and take proactive steps.
Premera members across Washington state who may be at higher risk for preeclampsia will receive a postcard in the mail featuring resources curated by March of Dimes. Similar content will run on social media and in media outlets over the next few months.
