Premera and Gonzaga University Team Up Against Cancer

March 11, 2026

Shades of pink blanketed the Gonzaga women’s basketball game vs. Pacific University on February 7 to show solidarity with cancer patients and survivors.

During the “Paint the Kennel Pink” game, fans, including nearly 40 Spokane-area Premera employees, helped amplify the support for individuals and families affected by cancer in our region.

“’Paint the Kennel Pink’ is a powerful reminder of what happens when community, compassion, and action come together,” said David Condon, vice president at Premera Blue Cross. “It supports Premera’s commitment to awareness, early detection, and showing up for the communities we serve.”

The game’s presenting charity partner was the Community Cancer Fund, a Spokane-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by cancer in our communities.

Jon Neill, Executive Director of the Community Cancer Fund, commented, “Gonzaga’s Pink Game was a smashing success with the Kennel canvassed in pink, tributes to those impacted by cancer, and a celebration of the women who have successfully beat breast cancer. The game was a victory for the Zags, but more importantly it delivered a giant win for the Spokane community.”
