Medicare Supplement Spousal Discount Notice Error: What Producers Should Know

Some of your clients may have recently received a letter saying their Premera Blue Cross Medicare Supplement spousal discount was denied. In some cases, the denial notification was sent because of a system error, not because the discount was actually denied. This error has been fixed in our system.

This notification error applies to policies with effective dates of March 1 or April 1, 2026.

Affected members were notified about their specific situation the first week of April.

In some cases, your clients may have also received an incorrect invoice:

  • If your client received an incorrect March or April premium invoice, a corrected invoice will be sent that will reflect the corrected amount, including any applicable credit.
  • April AFT premiums are not impacted and have already been corrected. Some members may have initially received an incorrect April invoice, but a corrected bill will be sent.

No action is needed from producers or members at this time.
