Many Premera Blue Cross HMO Members Start Their Plans on January 1, 2026
For members who enrolled in a Premera Blue Cross HMO (PBC HMO) plan during open enrollment, their plan begins on January 1, 2026. They will receive a welcome email and a brochure in the mail in the new year. In addition to launching a new producer page, we’ve made many changes to how PBC HMO communicates with audiences:
Digital first
We’re shifting toward a digital-first approach to communication, which means cutting back on the paper we send to members:
Electronic Explanation of Benefits (eEOBs): New PBC HMO members will be automatically enrolled in eEOBs. Re-enrolled PBC HMO members will need to opt in manually through their member portal.
PCP assignments: Members will not receive a physical PCP assignment letter in the mail, but they can check, change, or choose their PCP when they log in to their portal. Their welcome brochure will feature a QR code for direct access to their dashboard. If they want a printed letter with their PCP assignment, they can request one using their secure email or by calling the number on the back of their ID card.
Additional resources: Members will receive one additional mailing in spring that provides them with helpful information, resources, and tips about how to use their plan. We encourage them to keep this brochure! It also comes with a wallet-size card to help them navigate referrals and direct care.
A new approach
In May, we changed our communications to help improve access to important, unbiased information about healthcare. You’ll now see HMO 101 and “Did you know” sections throughout our materials and online presence.

In hopes of better meeting the needs of our members, we’d love to hear what you think of our new direction at PremeraLISTENS for producers. This kind of feedback helps direct the changes we make.
