Automatic PCP Designation for Select Health Plans Now Live

Earlier this year we announced primary care provider (PCP) designation as a key feature for members on select small group and Premera Pathfinder health plans. We’re excited to share that this feature is now live.

Members can view and change their designated PCP in the secure member website. Members who change their designated PCP must select an in-network provider.

How PCPs were designated
Premera took several factors into account when designating PCPs to members. Designation was based on:

  • Existing PCP relationship
  • General proximity to the member’s home address
  • PCPs accepting new patients

Primary care matters
Members with PCPs have improved health outcomes, lower total cost of care, and higher satisfaction with their health plan. A PCP can:

  • Personalize care based on the member’s need
  • Coordinate with specialists
  • Provide routine preventive care
  • Catch health issues early

View, change, or schedule care
Members must sign in to their secure member website to view or change their designated PCP. On the member dashboard, members will see their designated PCP. After clicking view and manage PCP selections the member will be redirected to the Premera Find a Doctor tool.

Members can view in-network providers, add providers to a favorites list, and change their designated PCPs within the Find a Doctor tool. Some provider listings may have a book now feature that enables members to schedule appointments online.
