In Your Corner When It Matters Most
This month, the Premera Healthsource blog shared the deeply moving story of Carlos and Renata—and the power of whole-person care when families need it most. After immigrating to the United States and building a life together, Carlos and Renata faced an unimaginable diagnosis: metastatic cancer. As Carlos’s condition worsened, Renata struggled to navigate a complex healthcare system while confronting language and cultural barriers that left her feeling unheard.
That changed when Premera case manager Cely Quisano stepped in. With empathy and persistence, she ensured Renata was included in care conversations, connected interpreter services, and helped the family access critical financial and community support. Even after Carlos’s passing, that care continued.
The story is a powerful reminder of what it means to truly be in our members’ corner—listening, advocating, and supporting families through their most difficult chapters.
